A beautifully time worn Arts & Crafts period Pine Chest with original Tynecastle Embossed Canvas Paper & Domed Head Brass Edge Studding with high quality Brass Strap Hinges to the lid. We can only imagine that the Tynecastle Embossed Canvas Paper was a remnant at the time & someone decided to cover an old pine packing chest. It also has the original of the period fabric lining. An absolutely unique chest which can now be used for small storage, books, magazines, papers etc, or ideal as a small side table. Dimensions 17.5 inches wide, 12.5 inches depth, 12 inches in height. Tynecastle Embossed Canvas Paper was developed & patented by William Scott Morton & Company, Edinburgh in 1882. It went on to be used in some of the finest English country houses & hotels, train interiors etc. In 1893 it was even used on the interior of W.K.Vanderbilt's new yacht.
