Item Description
A very precious piece of history here, Japanese wrapping paper from the 1880's, the Meiji era.
Made from layers of old paper soaked in tung oil (an oil from the tung nut), this will have made it almost greaseproof and waterproof, making it extremely practical. It will have been used for wrapping food from the market or to preserve in the home. There are remnants of Japanese calligraphy in the top left corner which adds to its authenticity.
We have decided to sell it as a modern work of wall art. A piece of history encased and to be shown-off. It will look amazing in any room of the house, it could almost be in a museum!
The dimensions are :- 83.8cm x 137.2cm
