Item Description
These absolutely stunning set of cabinet doors originated in China in the early 20th century. The quality of this piece s undeniable; it has been hand-painted using different types of red, the carvings are still very prominent despite the age, and they would have been found on a Chinese cabinet.
The hand-carved carvings are the vocal point of these doors. The first carving at the top could be viewed as a home setting which could reflect family and community which, in Chinese culture, is the foundation of an individual life. The second and third carvings underneath are of potted flowers. We believe these flowers could be sunflowers which symbolise long life and vitality. The final carving is of two birds, which we think are pheasants, surrounded by flowers. Pheasants are seen as emblems of beauty and good fortune within Chinese culture.
Nowadays, this incredible set of doors would make perfect oriental wall art for your home!
