Item Description

This mid 19th century slipware bowl originated in China in the 1860s. This bowl is a true piece of quality. It has a stunning Selden glaze which gives it that glossy shine and it has been hand-thrown which is showcased on the bottom of the plate. It has also been hand-painted using a quaint light blue, and a dark blue for artistic flair. The red mark on the bottom translates to 'six' meaning that this bowl have been found in stack and would have either been used to show which stack is 'stack six' or which plate is 'no.6'.

This would have originally been for domestic use in the kitchen. Nowadays however, it can be hung on a wall to be seen as interesting décor.

The dimensions are as follows: H - 3.5cm, W - 20cm, D - 20cm.
