Item Description
A nineteenth century, English copper, fancy border, ring mould. This is marked with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams above a pattern number ’449’. To the opposite side is a workman’s mark in the shape of a fleur de lys. The mould is also nicely engraved with interlocking C’s beneath a crown. This would have been the mark of a previous owner and a member of the aristocracy. The mould is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1870. The design is simple, being a border of sponge finger shapes. There is very slight pitting to the copper, from use, but otherwise it is in good condition and the tinning, to the interior, is still in good, usable condition.
Dimensions: Diameter 15.5cm. Height 6cm.
