Item Details

An unusual 19th century Copeland tile. This is marked “COPELAND FRESCO” and it is also impressed with a ‘0’ above ’78’ which is the Copeland date mark for the year 1878. The design is from a series depicting Medieval musicians which was introduced in 1878. This example is decorated in polychrome enamels over a coloured outline and shows a musician playing a lap harp. Two of the corners have been rounded but otherwise it is in good condition.
Dimensions: 15cm square by 0.8cm thick.
