Item Description
A large, and very heavy, 19th century, French copper, rectangular casserole. Both the casserole and cover are stamped with the number “45”, which relates to the length of the casserole in centimetres, but this has been badly struck and is a little indistinct. The piece is well made, from an exceptionally heavy gauge of copper, and it has castellated seams around the base and up the side. It dates from c.1860 and is in very good condition. The tinning to the interior is worn and, although it is no longer good for cooking in, it would be ideal for use as a bread bin.
Dimensions: Length of casserole 46.2cm. Width 24cm. Depth 24.4cm. Overall length including the handles 58cm. Overall height including the handle 28cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £55. Most of Western Europe add £25.
