https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/appleby-antiquesAn early 20th century, Wedgwood calendar tile. Wedgwood made a series of these tiles over a number of years. Each tile was transfer printed in brown with a different scene of Boston, Massachusetts and they were made for Jones McDuffee & Stratton Co. who were pottery merchants in Boston. They would probably have been given to good customers in the way that some companies now give out paper calendars. Each has a scene on one side and a calendar for the year on the other. This one is printed with “The John Hancock House Boston Built 1737. Demolished 1863” and the calendar is for the year 1900. It is in very good condition with just one tiny chip to the rim.
