French and around 1900, four Oyster Farming Poles, bleached by the water, usually tidal estuary salt water.
The oyster seeds were attached to the poles by lime putty which over the years, as the wood is eaten away by the salt water, begun to stand out and create these wonderful shapes surrounded by the bleached wood.
The poles are mounted on equally bleached driftwood, attached by vintage bolts to create a very modern composition, considerable in size and a very impressive piece of wall art.
The driftwood mount is 96cm long 8cm Wide, 3 of the Oyster Poles are 184cm long and one Oyster Pole is 200cm, the full piece’s length from top of driftwood to tip of longest pole is around 208cm.
This is a substantial piece which on arrival will need the poles reattaching to the mount securely with the bolts.
Please note that there are no wall mounting attachments, we leave that to you, the rope around the driftwood top in the last picture is what we used to attach to a pole just to take the images and this sort of attachment definitely will not be strong enough to hold the piece to the wall, they will need to be attached to the wall by a professional to make sure they are safe, secure and to make sure of no coming away from the wall.
