This 19th-century brass gimbal-mounted candlestick is a fascinating and uniquely peculiar piece!



Originally designed for use on ships, the gimbal allows it to be moved around the ship, placed on a desk, or even hung on the wall during challenging weather conditions.



The presence of a counterweight ensures that the candle and drip pan sway with the movement, keeping the candle upright.



What makes this candlestick truly remarkable is the inclusion of not just one, but two faces resembling flames.



Is it a flame, a sprite, wee willy winky, an imp, or even the faerie who watches over your candle.



Standing at 22.5 cm high, complete with glass eyes, bushy eyebrows and monstrous teeth what a wonderfully different folk art piece.
