Large 22 Drawer Mid Century Teak Chest Cabinet S D Rand London

Tremendous mid century jewellers cabinet labelled S. D Rand, Rand House, Shoreditch High Street London E1.

A little history - The Pygmalion name was owned by British company S. D. Rand Ltd., which was based in London. The name was registered 'for cosmetic boxes' by Salo David Rand in 1942. S. D. Rand Ltd was incorporated in 1949. They created some wonderful pieces including globe flower baskets and piano shaped compacts…

Now seeking a new purpose, it’s of a useful scale with 22 mid century angled shaped drawers of various sizes all currently lined with black velvet which could be removed if you desired. We have a beech frame and veneer sides and a thick teak top sitting over the bank of the drawers which are solid teak fronted.

Condition is good with all the drawers running well and are clean, the velvet lining has a few marks, the top possesses day to day marks but nothing nasty. We have a few nibbles to the veneer on the sides but not a big deal and not off putting. It sits firm with no wobbles and is nice and heavy. The piece is ready to place after a session in our workshop. Expect day to day patina - images show this.

For any large items that require two people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item. If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with moving the item. We are happy to quote for a two person delivery if required.
