Item Details

An 18th century mezzotint of James Stuart, Duke of Richmond, after 17th Century Flemish Painter, Antonius van Dyck. It has been later framed in a Victorian frame.


 


A mezzotint is an engraving technique developed in the seventeenth century which allows for the creation of prints with soft gradations of tone and rich and velvety blacks.


 


Condition :  good condtion ( the white dots on the image is reflection from my camera not marks on the engraving ) the frame has some minor scuffs due to age.
