An 18th century mezzotint.


 


Mezzotint is an engraving technique developed in the seventeenth century which allows for the creation of prints with soft gradations of tone and rich and velvety blacks.


 


 This mezzotint is after 17th Century Flemish Painter, Antonius van Dyck. It has been later framed in a Victorian frame


.


 


Condition : The mezzotint is in good condtion ( the white dots on the image is reflection from my camera not marks on the engraving ) the frame has some minor scuffs due to age.
