A Victorian Mauchline ware dip pen with carved handle in the shape of a feather decorated with a picture of "the border stone "


Before the invention of the fountain pen, all correspondence would be done using a dip pen and ink. Inkwells came in all shapes and sizes and for all pockets, from the humble stone bottle to the wonderfully ornate bronze and silver inkwells. Every Ink stand would need at least one dip pen, these also came in a number of different materials.
