This is a smart silver plated coaster big enough for a champagne bottle or a magnum.
Originally these coasters were used to hold a decanter to avoid spills on the table. Nowadays most wines dont need decanting so the coasters are used to hold a wine bottle.
It was made during the Edwardian period and would have been used in a wealthy household.
