Striking 19th Century Ebonised Whatnot Shelf Unit with Gallery Top

Antique English, circa 1880

This lovely antique ebonised whatnot shelf unit displays wonderful aged character and charm. With its narrow proportions, the piece features four shelves supported by turned uprights and bobbin feet, creating a delicate, elegant silhouette. The gallery top adds a refined, architectural detail with delicate turned balustrade and top hat corner posts. The thin slender shelves made from a single plank provides further elegance and proportions to the piece.

The deep, rich ebony finish has a lovely, worn patina that speaks to the age and history. Small nicks, scratches and other signs of gentle wear only enhance the piece’s character and timeless appeal.
