An Askos was a Roman pouring vessel for wine or milk. This version has a sinuous foliate decorated handle terminating with a winged putto standing on a scallop shell, the gadrooned rim surmounted by two detailed goats.
An identical example can be found illustrated in the Chiurazzi Foundry catalogue. Italian, circa 1860.
