Item Description
Three Tuareg tribal wooden bowls, dating from the early 20th century, two with geometric and line incised decoration, the other larger bowl plain. All with old repairs.
These large wooden food or grain bowls come from the Tuareg, a nomadic people of the African Sahel and North Africa. They're traditionally fashioned by hand using very basic tools and incorporate geometric incised patterns to the exterior. Carved from lightweight wood making them extremely portable and cracked bowls will typically have repairs which adds to their appeal.
