Item Description

A naive scratch built illuminated model pub facade, probabaly dating from the 1950's, The pub front titled 'White Horse Inn, Whitaker's Ales' and signed H, Gladstone. The rear of the facade with coloured battery operated lights which illuminate the windows.

Richard Whitaker & Sons, as per the name of the facade, was founded c1849 in Halifax, Yorkshire, as the Stannery Inn Brewery and registered as Whitaker & Sons in April 1890. The company was acquired by Whitbread & Co ltd in 1968, together with some 135 public houses. Brewing ceased in early 1969.
