Lauren Clark (British), Hammersmith Bridge. Oil on canvas, signed, in a white painted wooden frame.
Lauren Clark is the widow of the late England cricket captain Bob Willis who died in December 2019. Suddenly alone and further isolated by the national lockdown, Lauren turned to art, having not picked up a brush since her A levels more than 30 years earlier. She began painting cubist images of her husband’s iconic bowling action - a design that inspired The Bob Willis Trophy which was presented to the County Champions at Lord’s.
Lauren has also produced abstract artworks of structures including Sydney Opera House, the Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge and Hammersmith and Barnes Bridge closer to home. Proceeds from the sale of this painting will be donated to The Bob Willis Fund to aid research into the earlier and more accurate diagnosis of prostate cancer.
