https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/ljw-antiquesThe War Illustrated was a British war magazine. First introduced to cover the events of WW1 in August 1914, it ran through to Februry 1919, returning to cover WW2 in September 1939 with the second round of publications running trough to April 1947.
This poster would have been designed to go in a headline news board in front of a newsagents and I beleive this to be from the WW1 series of publications (with the eyecatching 'sunburst' logo chaging for the later editions).
This poster is a piece of 20th century history, with a very striking design and, rather eerily - a subject matter that still seems relevant all these years on!
Generally these newspaper headline posters were discarded when the next edition came out so suvivors are always rare. This example has some creases and a few small tears / holes - mainly around the middle. Considerate framing with a colour matched backing paper has reduced the impact of this - see the last photo for closer details.
Professionally framed and ready to hang, the poster measures 77cm high x 51cm wide.
