This 'No Parking' enamel sign comes from the Midlands Region (identifiable by it's burgandy background colour) of the British Rail Network and dates to the 1950s. British Railway's enamel signs are very iconic and combine simple, clear typography with vibrant colours and have their lovely rounded edges.


This sign is single sided - it would have originally been back to back with a matching sign so that it could have hung from the middle of the platform/station and been visible on both sides. It now hangs neatly against a wall. A lovely piece that can be both functional and decorative.


It's survived the decades in decent condition retaining a good background colour and surface gloss. There are a few patches of enamel loss and some surface scratching though I'd suggest these add to the character of the piece without impacting it's legibility.


It measures 45cm (18") high x 61cm (2') wide x 2.5cm deep.
