Item Description
This vibrant 1930s Craven "A" Cigarettes enamel sign is a flashback to a different era, before designated smoking areas and warning labels on cigarette packets... With hindsight - 'will not affect your throat' is probably a very misguided claim but it is an interesting reflection on how society, behaviours etc can change. Displayed in a wonderfully 'of the period' red, yellow and orange colourway, this sign has survived the decades well. There's a slight dulling / mottling to the surface gloss, though the lettering retains a shine and the colours remain vibrant. There are a few patches of enamel loss, most notably the band of damage coming in from the left edge which correlates to the lower left corner of the sign sticking forwards slightly (see the third, angled photo for a better understanding of this). Generally though there's nothing that affects the impact or legibility of this sign and it displays well. A fantastic piece of decor for any vintage themed kitchen, cafe, bar / pub or an excellent piece of 'man-cave' decor. The sign measures 77cm high x 51.5cm wide x 3cm deep.
