This is easily my favourite poster purchase in a very long time... With it's eye-grabbing '£5 Reward' strapline, this poster lures the viewer in to what looks like a highly elaborate poster for a missing parrot. However, as viewer reads on it becomes apparent that this is in fact an advertisment for the Butlin's Fair! The missing parrot 'can be easily recognised by it constantly screaming at the top of its voice, "take me to see the Giant School Boy, the Heaviest Boy on Earth."'... I've never seen the likes of this poster before, likely to date do the 1940s/'50s, posters of this period were usually pasted up and so generally very few survive. This one remains in fantastic condition with wonderfully vibrant colours and just minimal marking / discolouring. It was printed by Wilsons' Printers, Leicester. The printing is distinctly wonky and the border is gappy, but that's in the nature of these quick, cheap and temporary adverts and adds to it's charm. The poster has been professionally framed in a blue frame to compliment the vibrancy of the poster and is ready to hang. Including the frame it measures 79cm high x 54.5cm wide ... a real statement piece.
