This is an antique Moorish jardiniere stand. A Middle Eastern, teak and inlay planter podium, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.



  • Dashingly ornate stand with great colour and Aesthetic period taste

  • Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout

  • Quality teak presents fine grain interest and rich caramel hues

  • Accentuated with inlay, adding spectral highlights to the stand



  • Wide top hosting a striking fretwork circular motif, arranged in eight sections

  • Inlaid star motif to the centre and each corner, respectively

  • Under tier framed with superb fretwork aprons, culminating in a point at each corner

  • Lobed motif adorns the lower edge of the under tier, with circular inlay medallions



  • Generous height to the under tier, with a maximum clearance of 40cm (15.75'')

  • Shelf engraved with a diamond motif to the centre, surrounding a star inlay

  • Fascinating Mashrabiya panels to the lower form, a feature of Arabian architecture

  • Canted and arrow shaped legs support the stand at each corner
