This is an antique morning room elbow chair. A Scottish, carved oak throne seat in Gothic revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880.

Broad and generous form to this country house chair
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Select Scottish oak presents fine grain interest throughout
Dark caramel hues adorn the deep timber frame

Relief carving accentuates the top rail with a grapevine shield to the centre
Upholstered back rest framed by relief patterns to the outside
Professionally reupholstered in a vibrant claret red velvet and press stud trim

Traditionally stuffed cushion set at a comfortable height of 46.5cm (18.25'')
Thick, shaped arms sit upon serpentine front supports
Fascinating lion head masks grace each knuckle of the arms

Lower apron in sash form with relief decor and scroll detail
