Mid Century Staverton Bookcase Filing Cabinet

A stunning original cabinet by Staverton, with oak sliding doors and fifteen pigeon holes.

Staverton is a renowned British joinery firm still going strong today. It established itself as a leading design-led UK manufacturer of office furniture and has been making quality furniture since 1928. In the middle of the last century, Staverton manufactured furniture ranges for the Crown Suppliers and this developed into contracts for Crown Court Buildings and London hotels.

This cabinet is stylishly utilitarian and made from solid and veneered golden oak. The five storage shelves feature a smooth up and over door action with metal runners and a label recess. Each is sub-divided into three further sections within the birch ply interior. The back is stamped with Moss Partners, most probably a Barristers company.

The cabinet has an Art Deco look and would make a fantastic storage unit for either books, files in an office or lounge or for smaller items of clothes or accessories in a bedroom.

Circa: 1950s

Workshop Report: It is extremely well made with a sturdy, and quite heavy frame. Overall good condition there are some minor scratches to the wood in places due to wear and tear – see photos.
As with all our products, this product is an original vintage item so there are signs of wear from use.
