Original Anglepoise Floor Lamp 1209 Model By Herbert Terry & Sons
An original Anglepoise lamp By Herbert Terry and Sons, Model 1209, A design classic floor lamp with a heavy cast metal trolley base. The lamp has the original makers mark cast into the fork base – Made by Herbert Terry & Sons’ the lamp has 4 springs and retains its original shade. The paintwork of the lamp is the rarer scumbled finish. This lamp would have typically been used in a medical or dentistry environment.
First released in 1935, the Anglepoise Model 1209 lamp was designed by British engineer George Carwardine. Inventing the 4-spring lamp in 1932, Carwardine renovated his invention by creating the 3-spring mechanism to bring the Anglepoise lamp for home use, creating an instant icon that has lasted in its original design to the current day.

Workshop Report: This lamp is in its original condition, lightly cleaned and waxed. There is some paint wear in places in particular to the shade, The Lamp retains its original scumbled paint. It has been rewired with twisted brown flex and a switched CE certified bayonet bulbholder and 3 pin UK Plug. Lamp has been PAT tested. We have a cleaner scumbled shade 1227 model which can be swapped if desired – see photos.
As with all our products, this product is an original vintage item so there are signs of wear from use.
