Item Details

1960’s Horgen Glarus Beech Saddle Back Dining Chairs – Various Quantities Available. One of the best sets of chairs we have sourced and our first from Horgen Glarus the oldest surviving furniture producer in Switzerland. Established in 1880 in Horgen near Zurich and expanded in 1902 to include the company’s workshop in Glarus. In terms of design and quality, it has ranked among the world’s finest furniture makers for more than 135 years. Le Corbusier, for example, exhibited chairs crafted by Horgen Glarus at his “Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau” at the “Exposition internationale des Arts décoratifs” in Paris. This is a beautifully made set of heavy weight and excellent quality chairs with a rich colour and age but still in exceptional condition. Of good scale the backs are steam bent beech with beautiful detail. Just beautiful chairs. Seat height 46cm.
