This highly evocative painting beautifully describes life in rural Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century. Purcará de Tilcara is an archeological site built over many centuries by the indigenous people. By depicting people in their traditional dress, nobly working, the artist conveys a sense of another era.


Jose Roig was a Spanish artist who travelled and painted in Argentina. His works have sold internationally at auction for up to £4,000.
