Item Description
An exquisitely painted interior scene depicting children feeding a caged bird with their mother and a made. Painted in a style highly typical of the period, domestic scenes such as this were extremely popular, displaying the quiet intimacy of family life. The style is reminiscent of Antoine Watteau and William Hogarth. There is an exceptional delicacy in these painting to details and texture, such as the mother's silk dress and the textile that hangs over the table. This masterpiece was likely painted sometime between 1740 and 1790 by a French or Flemish artist.
