Item Description
This fascinating Old Master painting is bursting with iconography. The piece depicts a female figure of a Saint or Angel with a halo, clothed in red and white and holding a cross which appears to be glowing in one hand, and a long reed in the other. The figure appears to be keeping the vicious dog at bay with her cross, perhaps symbolic of the devil. This piece is delicately painted in outstanding detail, with the stunning drapery of the clothing appearing to be blowing in the wind.
