Item Description
A miniature portrait of William Shakespeare framed in a circular, walnut frame.
The portrait was woven with silk by W.H. Grant of Coventry as a souvenir of the Franco - British exhibition in 1908. Grant would set up a portable loom at exhibitions, producing his silk weavings in situ to sell to the visitors in postcard form.
Inside the frame is just as interesting with a floral back plate and a hand written note, ' From your sincere friend Arthur S Read', I think. I hope whoever received it loved it as much as I do...
Frame diameter 12cm
Frame aperture 7cm
Frame depth 2cm
