Item Description
These beauties have taken a while to research...
The design is clearly influenced by Axel Einar Hjorth's Berga chair, designed and manufactured in the 1930s.
Unlike Hjorth's Berga chair, constructed from pine, these chairs are elm with hand forged iron nails and a shaped seat. With advice from Bukowskis, Stockholm, I believe we can attribute them to Åby Möbelfabrik, circa 1940s.
The elm has a beautiful grain, and they're a simple, clean, Modernist construction.
