Item Description
A monumental Murano glass table lamp, circa 1950, attributed to Alfredo Barbini.
The lamp is formed from a hand blown, fluted tapering body of glass with copper and gold inclusions, with a Murano label present on the interior. Set on a cream painted wooden base raised on four spheres, with a gilt fluted neck, it's a huge, eye catching, sparkling beast of a lamp; I love it.
Re wired with ivory twist cable, antique brass bulb holder, black plug and PAT tested.
Alfredo Barbini ( 1912-2007 ) was a Master Glass Blower and Designer, a leading figure in 20th century glass design. He was born on the island of Murano to a family of prominent glassblowers. He started his apprenticeship at the age of 13 and by 20 was considered a Master in his craft.
