Item Description
ANTIQUE FLOOR STANDING MEAT SAFE CABINET
Of simple country house construction from pine in its original dusky red oxide paint.
Originally would have been used to store meat with its mesh doors and sides keeping the flies out whilst allowing air to circulate around the contents.
Probably dates from the early 19th century, circa 1800-1830s.
It is in good vintage condition, it is solid and sturdy and all joints seem ok. There is cosmetic wear and imperfections throughout which adds to its charm and tells its story. There is some old woodworm present which we have treated with a solvent-free treatment for good measure
Approximate measurements 140cm high x 88cm wide x 50cm deep.
