A hugely decorative dresser with a shaped back in its original crusty paint which has become thick in texture to great effect.
Constructed mainly from pine with a thick gauge two-plank counter top which is possibly elm or sycamore.
It is raised on four turned front feet with similar turned pillar detail decoration throughout and panelled ends.
There are seven functioning drawers of varying sizes with original porcelain handles surrounding a central cupboard.
Originating from Lancashire in Northern England and dating from the 1830s period during the reign of William IV or possibly into the early Victorian period.
The dresser has been well used over the years for various purposes and has wear and imperfections throughout commensurate with this. There are honest old repairs, missing pieces, dents, scratches, stains etc. which make it what it is. It is still a very usable piece of furniture. Its condition reflects its life and its overall aesthetic is part of the reason we fell for it and we believe this adds to its charm and decorative appeal.
There is some old woodworm present which we have treated for good measure.
Approximate measurements 183cm wide x 61cm deep x 118cm high. The height of the worktop is roughly 86cm.
