ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING
Titled 'Nature Morte L'Hiver' which translates to English as Winter Still Life, depicting winter vegetables including potatoes, onions and a leek ready for the stew pot on a kitchen table in a dark kitchen with a linen cloth hanging behind.
A stylish oil painted in a confident and loose style with an energy and feeling that translates to the canvas well.
indistinctly signed to the lower right 'Pierre Litoust?' and dated '2. 56' for February 1956.
Remnants of a paper label verso show the title and a few more intriguing clues. There are also a few other inscriptions verso 'CACM - Paris - France' and 'Paris, Litoust (L'hiver).
The painting is in good vintage condition with some minor wear commensurate with age. There is one old repair to the left-hand side of the canvas near the edge of the cooking pot.
