Item Description
A long gnarly rustic antique wooden bench full of character from many years of use.
The thick single plank top, believed to be elm is formed from the edge piece of a tree trunk, the curved underside still has some of the original bark present.
Stood on four removable chamfered legs, each with its own character.
These could be secured in place if desired but we have left them as they have always been so the option remains.
A dry almost blackened finish to the wood which is highly decorative in a wabi sabi, or primitive rustic aesthetic.
As can be seen from the photographs there is quite a lot of wear throughout the piece which makes it what it is. There is a significant amount of old dead woodworm present which we have treated for good measure. There is a crack running from one end through one of the leg holes.
Taking into account all of the wear the bench is possibly not as structurally sound as it once was but it can be used as a bench to sit on. We have tested it with two adults and it seems good enough for this purpose, alternatively, it could be used as a display stand, shelf or as a long coffee table.
Approximate measurements 264cm long x 34cm deep x 41cm high.
