Item Description
C.1930's oil painting on board. By Spanish/French artist Leopoldo Santa Maria de Obregon (1887 - 1970) Glorious portrait depicting a woman in jaunty feather hat. Beautifully painted with lots of distinctive 1930's style. Signed lower left.
Good vintage condition. Presented in a later frame - in good vintage condition with signs of very light cosmetic wear - the frame is included in the sale for free.

Born August 26, 1887 in the Santander province of Spain. Died October 26, 1971 in the Paris suburb L'Hay-les-Roses. Painted under the name and signed L. Santa Maria. Spent much of their career in France, studying at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and at the acclaimed Cormon's Studio, Paris from 1915. (The school was also attended by artists such as Vincent van Gogh, John Peter Russell, Émile Bernard, Louis Anquetin and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec) Exhibited widely throughout Spain and France.
