Item Description
C. 1868 French silk tapestry panel by renowned French silk weavers Tassinari & Chatel. A superb, highly decorative piece, finely woven on a black silk ground and adorned with exquisitely detailed decoration featuring a horse and jockey. The design was commissioned by the Lyon based silks manufacturer C J Bonnett. (Founded in 1810 Bonnet was one of the largest manufacturers of French silks during the 19th & 20th centuries)
Good antique condition with slight fading, small areas of damage to one of horse's back legs and to the saddle area.
Complete with what looks to be the original gilt edged card mount which has normal signs of age.
