C. 1940's oil painting on canvas. By Swedish artist Hans Ekegardh (1881 - 1962) Beautifully painted sensuous nude, captured with soft, impressionist brushwork. Signed lower right. Presented in a vintage gilt wood frame. Painting and frame are in good vintage condition.

Ekegardh began his professional life as a musician, studying at the Royal Higher School of Music in Stockholm. He emigrated to France, becoming a Paris concertmaster in 1902. He moved in artistic circles, meeting Matisse in 1906, and began painting in 1908, enjoying a successful career which included exhibitions at Salon d'Automne, Salon des Tuileries, Salon des Indépendants and in numerous galleries. In 1928 he presented the paintings Decoration and Place de la Concorde at the Salon d'Automne. The following year he took part in the Swedish art exhibition organized at the Musée du Jeu-de-Paume.
His works are held in a number of French museum collections, including at the National Art Museum, Carnavalet Museum and the Bernadotte Museum.
