A large scale hand painted three dimensional ceramic wall art plaque by Sicilian artist Giovanni De Simone signed and dated 1964. In very good condition with some crazing to the glaze but without any chips or cracks. A wonderful and unique piece of mid century folk art.
De Simone was a mid-century ceramicist who created colorful vessels, platters and wall art, decorated with festive figures, flowers and fauna in a style that shows his appreciation for Cubism and Folk Art.
