https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/the-black-dogA 17th century oak backstool, pegged construction, likely from the Lancashire or Chester area, with primitive but sturdy arms (both of staked construction with adzed timber arm supports, and naively carved, asymmetrical arm rests) added later. The arms themselves are likely 18th/early 19th century additions in of themselves.
Overall condition of the piece is good, considering the age, however there is a chip to one of the pyramid finials on the back of the chair, as well as significant evidence of now consolidated wood rot, as well as some evidence of woodworm in places which has since been treated numerous times by us.
