Item Description

Amazing Scratch Built Locomotives

One of the best examples of English scratch built folk art models we have uncovered. Modelled on an steam locomotive this item has been constructed using metal sheets and other found engineering objects of sorts. With all its original paint still intact, the proportions are what makes this model so special and due to its size, a complete one of a kind.

The item was created as a model and does not move, the inside of the engine room is quite amazing with a coal hatch that opens and closes, control leavers and several other accessories in place. We believe the doors and windows would have originally open and closed however due to its age rust forming these functions are no longer.

Size in inches approx.: H 16” x W 37” x D 11”

Origin: United Kingdom

Date: Early 20th Century

Material: Metal

Weight: 25KG

Condition Report

  1.        Missing paint.
  2.        Loss or missing metal detail.

Condition: This item is completely solid in structure and form. Obvious age is shown in loss of paint, chips, scratches and fading of surface in places. Rust is present as show in the photos provided especially across exposed paint less areas. The rod to the front of the train engine is not joined to the body and is loss, this does not affect the decorative appeal of this item. A very heavy object weighing roughly 25kg. Its strongly suggested to review all the photos provided carefully and propose any questions where details are unclear before a purchase is made.

Its exceedingly difficult to photograph all the areas of these pieces, therefore we strongly suggest reviewing all the photos provided as part of this advert and propose questions where sections are unclear to avoid disappointment upon purchase.
