https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/the-turquoise-potThis is a great find - a naive folk art verre eglomise (reverse glass painting) icon-like framed glass painting of St. George slaying the Dragon. These typically originate from Russia or Georgia, although not exclusively. I think this is likely Georgian. They are also a little hard to date as the style does not change that much so this could be anywhere from late C19th to mid C20th.
Beautiful, rich, saturated colours of red, greens and gold with the horse in a creamy-white and the armour in a blue-grey. Written in Cyrillic 'St. George'. Absolutely charming work of naive folk art. In a wooden frame and with a hanging string and a hanging loop top back. I would be tempted to paint the frame gold to complement the picture but I will leave that up to the purchaser.
