A fine pair of German or possibly Dutch late 19th century Roemer wine decanters, one claret jug and one a decanter, in an attractive pale olive green glass. These are both large hand blown decanters with ruffle rims and polished pontil bases topped with unusual hollow stoppers with applied prunts. In perfect condition with no chips or cracks, each 16cm high.
This type of wine glass, commonly retailed by Liberty London and Morris & Co Ltd at the end of 19th Century/early 20th Century was created to satisfy the trend for Dutch revival glass from the 16th/17th Century. Now antiques themselves, these beautiful decanters have a distinctive and stylish look which works so well in 21st Century.
