Item Description

An exceptional rare floor lamp from France, designed by Jean Touret for Les Artisans de Marolles in the 1950's. Made from very heavy wrought iron, it features a cockerel, or rooster as its central motif. With 4 feet an scrolled legs rivited to the central bar. The finish is blackened within the blacksmiths forge, with traces of grey metal as highlights.

Touret formed his group of rural artisans in the Loire valley to protect traditional skills in post war France, developing is style of minimal and modernist pieceswith a strong comnnection to natural materials and traditional construction.

height 134cm to top of light fitting  34cm wide at base.  Sold without lampshade but for info, shade in photos is 30cm high x 40cm wide.. It would be possible for me to source a similar shade at cost if needed.
