Item Description
This is a gorgeous example of a paddy field trug. It would have originated in the 19th century and in East Asia, where most paddy rice was and still is grown. It has been hand-painted with a lovely deep black colour and holds areas of bobbled paint which add to its rustic nature. It is made from cedar and has a mixture of original and new metal brackets.
It would have been used to carry rice when working on the paddy fields. Nowadays, it can be used as a kindling holder or a storage space for certain domestic items such as blankets.
Dimensions are as follows: H - 26cm, W - 33.5cm, D - 30.5cm.
