Item Description
This is a wonderful example of late 19th Century Eastern European joinery! This small spice cabinet is intricate and vivacious, bold yet delicate.
The antiquity oozes from it; its well-patina'd appearance makes it nothing but charming. It holds 9 small drawers in the central area and a larger drawer above and below. The shape and carvings are magnificent, and they hold an almost regal stature. The overall ruby red paint makes it stand out, and yet where the paint has chipped off you can see other colours coming through. On the back of the cabinet is a makers-mark indicating it was made in Bihor, Romania.
We think it was initially a spice rack but nowadays it would be the perfect storage unit for jewellery or any other small trinkets.
The dimensions are as follows: H - 47.5cm x W - 28.5cm x D - 8cm
